What a week! After the sprint to finish off getting the house ready for holiday rental, we set off in a north-westerly direction. The land soon changed from lush and hilly to the flat wheat/barley/grain fields of the Mallee. Approaching Mildura there were many orchards, grape vines and the seemingly oddly placed palm trees. Fruit and vegetables were in abundance and relatively cheap. We had the pleasure of dining at Stefano’s restaurant, being served by Stefano himself. No menus, just what the chef cooks on the night for a 7 course degustation, it was delicious.
We saw the devastation of recently flooded Murray River, most houseboats are in dry dock and riverside properties and parks undergoing clean up and restoration. At the junction of the Murray and Darling rivers there was some SES tape tied to the trees way above our heads, so we could see how high the water would have been. The caravan park that we were going to stay at has been completely washed away. The town itself wasn’t impacted by the water level, the permanent levee was high enough to stop the water.

After Mildura we caught up with our future travelling companions

Have a look at the photos, where is Noddy now (well there are a few places here, but all near each other)???
