Perth

The entourage moved on to Perth. This was much anticipated as Gina was excited for her family reunion with nephew Mark and his wife Lisa. They had moved to Perth, and the last time she had seen them was 15 years ago when her Mum/their Nonna had passed away. She had met their son Luke as a toddler but had never met Zak, their second son. Gina’s niece Silvana had contacted us and said she would be in Perth at the same time we would. It was a great reunion!

We explored a lot of the Perth surrounds, Fremantle being the place to be. The seafood restaurants were amazing.

Rottnest Island – you just have to go, I have nothing more to say.

We had a great time in the WA Maritime Museum, admiring the great yacht that is Australia II. I remember the morning in 1983, in my school uniform, switching on the and watching our Prime Minister at the time, Bob Hawke saying, “Any boss that sacks anyone for not turning up to work today is a bum.” And of course the unofficial song of Australia at the time – Down under by Men at Work. Those were the days….
