Noddy's adventures

Denmark to Sterling Ranges

After Perth we met up with Maree and Nev again and went south-east. This part of the trip took us through forests of Karri trees, these are some of the tallest trees in the world. However our Tasmanian friends correctly pointed out that there are many taller species in Tassie. The strangest of the trees is the Bicentennial Tree, which has spikes drilled into it so it can be climbed to observe bushfire activity. Until July this year anyone who visited could climb the tree, using just the spikes for steps and hand rails. No safety nets, no harnesses. No Occupational Health and Safety rules in Western Australian forests!

Now we have been to Denmark before, but not this Denmark. This Denmark has amazing beaches and was worth a look. Further down the road near Albany we visited Torndirrup National Park which had even more amazing beaches and scenery.

Unfortunately Nev had the Man Flu for most of this trip so he didn’t join us most of the time so the girls went to Mount Barker, but we lost Gina on the last trip to the Granite walk and Sterling Ranges. Man flu seemingly is contagious!

Lastly if any of our friends from Daylesford are reading this, we are so sad about this weekend’s horrific incident. I hope our friends and my SES colleagues are OK and seek help if needed. We have been thinking of you all.
