This will be our last post from the Northern Territory, Noddy, his cat and his entourage have moved on to Western Australia. We absolutely loved Litchfield National Park with all of its amazing waterfalls. Some were easy to get to, some were a longer hike over varying terrain. We swam where we were allowed to, there were a number of falls that still had not been given the all-clear for crocodiles after the recent wet season.
For those that don’t know, there are two types of crocodiles in tropical Australia – the vicious and ferocious killing machines that are salt-water (Estuarine) crocodiles (salties) , and the smaller, less aggressive and less strong fresh-water croc (freshies). Even though they are called salties, they can live in fresh water and are often washed inland during the wet season. This is why you don’t swim in any water in northern Australia unless it has been declared safe!
Here’s some info about salties:

We also went to Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge) for a sunset cruise. We have been to the gorge before but it never fails to impress. Gliding on a boat through two of the 13 gorges was just awe inspiring. Nitmiluk was returned to indigenous ownership of the Jawoyn people in 1989 and they are doing a fabulous job of welcoming travellers and showing them around.
So…without further ado, here is our video
Enjoy!!!!
